Scenes on Screens

Scenes on screens of the scenes we’ve seen.

Living whole lives through our six by three inch means.

Can’t put them down but don’t call us fiends.

We need them for work, and, play, and everything in between.

Children partake and don’t know what most of it means.

Good messages, terrible ones - we never know what they glean.

Adults stay locked in too, you can barely intervene. Wake up, pick up the phone - that’s the modern day routine.

Argue from dusk til dawn about things from celebrities, to vaccines.

No need to leave the house just to see some mountains, oceans, or evergreens.
Not when we already have all those scenes on screens.

A poem reflecting my feelings toward our screen time and screen dependence. It has gone beyond convenience and entertainment. It has grown much larger than a gimmick or an alternative. Our use of screens has consumed us - and we are not dependent upon them for our basic, and daily needs.
